Delivery of MPP Workboat "SASKIA B"

MPP workboat “SASKIA B”, the latest version of Eurocarrier 2611 by Neptune Shipyards in the Netherlands, has recently been delivered to Zumaia Offshore, S.L. This shallow drafted   workboat, a revised version of a proven highly - efficient workboat, is certified by Bureau Veritas, bearing the notation “I ✠ HULL • MACH, SPECIAL SERVICE / MULTIPURPOSE SHIP, UNRESTRICTED AREA, AUT-UMS ” class notation. The vessel is powered by two Cummins QSK38-M diesel main engines each rated 1400 bhp at 1800 rpm, driving 1850mm diameter fixed pitch propellers in kort nozzles through Twin Disc gearboxes, delivering a certified maximum bollard pull of 37,3 tons and approximately 10,8 knots free running speed. Electrical power is supplied by two Caterpillar C9 generator sets, 250kVA each. Twin steering is provided by 2x45° angle fishtail rudder system. For close quarter increased manoeuvrability, a 360° pump-jet bowthruster is fitted in the foreship, with a maximum power of 280 kw.

The “SASKIA B”, flying Spanish flag, has already reached Brazil after a long mobilisation ocean voyage, where will operate under long term contract, assisting dredging and construction operations in one of the most important port constructions in South America.
